The Android 4.4.1 KitKat update is now rolling out for the Nexus 10 tablet.
Users can manually install the new KOT49E build on their Nexus 10 after downloading it. They'll have to be running the device's own stock ROM for it to work properly.
The software can be downloaded in the form of a new ROM which can be found here. All custom firmwares should be downloaded with extreme caution as they void the warrantees on devices and can potentially erase any saved data or programs. A handset should be fully backed up before a user attempts to update.
The official Android 4.4.1, KitKat update started rolling out for the Nexus 5 this week.
The upgrade reportedly improves some of the shortcomings of the smartphone's camera.
Dave Burke, Google's Director of Engineering for Android 4.4.1 recently broke down some of the issues users were having with the point and shooter into a few different categories including autofocus, increasing the app's launch speed and the progress indicator in HDR+ mode.
The new software will work to speed up the frame rate and increase the speed of the camera when reading its surroundings to fire off a picture that includes autofocus, exposure and white balance.
The Verge reported that the camera's speed now feels faster across the board with the new update. Burke stated that more interface changes are coming including the addition of a progress indicator in HDR+ mode. The company also hopes to work out a solution to the idea that camera settings are buried under layers of menus and Burke says Google is aiming to improve that in the future.
With the correction of the camera issues, the Nexus 5 should become a lot more appealing.
